The games of the ninth round of the Premier League were closed today (Monday) at the Toto Hall in Holon when Hapoel Holon defeated Hapoel Eilat 94:102 at home and went up to a 3:5 balance compared to the Eilats who are currently placed in seventh place, but are one game away from the last place. After scoring 101 points at home against Legia Warsaw in the Champions League, Holon once again displayed a fluid attack, benefiting from the performance of Eric Green, who scored 28 points in three of his last four games.
The first quarter was under the control of the guests, who already led 18:28. But a good finish by Holon brought them back into the game and in the second quarter the champion also started to defend and stopped Eilat at 17 points to go to the break with a 45:48 advantage. The game was actually decided in the third quarter when Green sniped from every range, Chris Johnson celebrated in the paint and two consecutive 3-pointers by Ragland established a 61:72 lead which the hosts kept until the end.
Besides Eric Green, Joe Ragland also gave a performance with 21 points and 8 assists. Chris Johnson added 16 points and 13 rebounds and Niv Meshav contributed 9 to Holoniyeh. Eric Griffin stood out on the other hand with 28 points of his own and four 3-pointers, but even 16 points by DJ Funderbark and 9 including 8 assists by Emmanuel Lacomte were not enough for Eilat on an evening where they scored at least 23 points in each quarter.
